Developed to embody the spirit of mid-winter cyclocross racing, the Flandrien is named after the resilient riders who thrive in changing conditions. With a bit more cornering traction in both dry and lightly wet or muddy conditions, this is the perfect transition tire between Grifo and Baby Limus.
This handmade TE (Team Edition) version combines a supple, 320TPI sealed corespun cotton casing with natural rubber SmartSoft tread for ultimate traction, cornering confidence and ride quality.
This Challenge TLR model ishookless rim compatible, and is designed to becompliant with UCI tire-width rules with most rims having an internal rim width up to 23mm.
Challenge handmade tires combine comfort, performance, and grip in a way other tires can't match. Our handmade tires are assembled step-by-step by experienced craftspeople. High quality natural glues and latex coatings are applied to ultra-supple casing materials like silk, cotton, or polyester. The result is a small-batch tire with a ride feel that is simply on a different level.

CASING: Corespun Cotton 320TPI
Corespun Cotton with thread counts of 320-350tpi is naturally softer and more supple than polyester but is more likely to absorb water so we seal our cotton sidewalls for increased durability.
COMPOUND: SMARTsoft
A more compliant rubber compound fine-tuned by World Champions for a smooth ride and maximum grip. SMARTsoft is also used on the special tires we developed with British Cycling for the lowest possible rolling resistance..
PUNCTURE PROTECTION: PPS
Our Puncture Protection System (PPS) is a tough, tightly-woven fabric placed between the tread and casing to increase puncture resistance.
