The second weekend of racing took the international scene to the first UCI events in the USA, the Deschutes Brewery Go Cross events. Two C2 events were facing the riders in predictably hot conditions. Getting the season off to a great start was Caroline Mani, who took the win on Saturday racing on Challenge Baby Limus TE S, followed by a 2nd place on Sunday. Caroline who is now in her second year with Challenge Tires rides for Van Dessel bikes now leads the USA Cycling Pro CX rankings. Meanwhile in China, the now traditional early season C1 events were taking place. Despite his bike only arriving 6 hours before the event Gosse van der Meer continued his great early season form taking the win ahead of fellow Challenge athlete Nicolas Samparisi of the KTM Alchemist Team. In the women’s event, Joyce Vanderbeken, took a strong 2nd place. Gosse rode with Challenge Grifo at 1.6 and 1.7 bar respectively front and rear. In race two in China, all three Challenge backed repeated their podium success, with Joyce finishing 3rd, and Gosse rounding out a double UCI win, taking home a huge amount of valuable UCI ranking points.
